Losing weight has never been so EASY!
You probably have not heard of a cookie that helps you lose weight or if you did, you ignored it as a bunch of hooey. I don't blame you. I did too when I first heard about it. Here's what happened...
I was getting ready for work one morning halfway listening to one of the morning news shows. The guests that day were 2 or 3 weight loss "experts". I wasn't really paying attention until it got to the expert that explained the concept behind his cookie diet. The concept and the science behind it made sense to me!
I have been a research scientist for my entire professional career. That makes a little over 30 years now.
So when I listened to him explain the reasons his diet cookie worked and his studies that proved it and years of experience that supported it, I listened and I understood.
There were two major reasons I decided to try his product. One was the idea of quick weight loss. I have long believed that the best way to lose weight is quickly. If it takes to long to lose weight we usually give up. Therefore, successful weight loss has to be quick. There are studies that show losing weight quickly is not harmful if you are a healthy individual. The second reason was the promise of hunger control. I have long said I have no willpower so any program I pursue has to control hunger and cravings.
I looked up the cookie on the internet and ordered a one week supply. I was appalled at the cost of the cookie and almost didn't order it for that reason. I knew one week would be enough for me to see if it really worked but what would I do if it did? I didn't have $400 to spend each month on a diet aid!
The cookie came and I gave it my best shot. The idea is that you eat 5 or 6 cookies during the day and a balanced, low calorie dinner of around 300 calories. The total for the day turns out to be around 800 calories. No rocket science here... at 800 calories per day anyone will lose weight! But, is it easy?
Day 1 was the hardest but I have to admit it was still relatively easy. I'm not much on eating breakfast so I had my first cookie around 10AM. I attempted to pace myself with one cookie about every 1 1/2 hours. That gave me 6 cookies during the day and supper around 7PM. I think the hardest part was getting out of the habit of eating meals. I was never hungry. I actually felt quite satisfied. That first day I was very aware of the time and couldn't wait for my next "cookie time".
After the first day it got easier. Again, I ate my first cookie around 10 or 11 AM. The busier I was the more I forgot the time and the fewer cookies I ate. I was also amazed at how much better my simple dinners tasted. At first I was picky and fixed myself a protein, usually grilled fish or a vegetarian burger, plus a salad with the 1 calorie per spray dressing, plus a tomato, plus one of those frozen broccoli and cheese-for-one. I would add a diet rice pudding for a total of around 300 calories. The food tasted incredible and I was very happy with this diet.
Somewhere during day 3 or 4 I was festering over the price or ordering more cookies when it finally hit me! ... I'm a Research Scientist! And a trained Project Manager! This is what I do for a living! So I tackled the problem like I have any other project. I did my research. I found the newest, most effective hunger-fighting ingredients available. I listed all the foods that promote or cause hunger. I poured over the scientific journals I was lucky enough to have access to. I called colleagues and other experts. In my lab I came up with a recipe I was truly proud of and I tested it. It was incredible! My cookies tasted better and they fought hunger better! I was truly happy with this diet. It was easy to stay on and the weight fell off!

THE SCIENCE...
It is a common belief that weight loss achieved at a slow rate is better preserved than if the weight is lost more rapidly. This is so ingrained in our belief system but it is not true! The literature shows that rapid initial weight loss is positively, not negatively, related to long-term weight maintenance. There is evidence from randomized intervention trials to support that a greater initial weight loss induced without changes in lifestyle improves long-term weight maintenance, providing it is followed by a 1-2 years integrated weight maintenance program consisting of lifestyle interventions involving dietary change, nutritional education, behavior therapy and increased physical activity.
In other words... lose the weight quickly. Get to your desired weight quickly... then go on a health maintenance program for 1 or 2 years and you will have a better chance of losing the weight and keeping it off!
Astrup and Rossner concluded in the journal Obesity Reviews that a greater initial weight loss as the first step of a weight management program may result in improved sustained weight maintenance.
The following is taken directly from WebMD...
Is Rapid Weight Loss Ever a Good Idea?
Rapid weight loss diets can have ill effects, but so does obesity. For this reason, very low calorie diets (VLCDs) are considered a reasonable weight loss option for people with obesity (having a body mass index --BMI -- greater than 30).
VLCDs are doctor-supervised diets lasting several weeks. The meals are nutritionally balanced, but expensive -- people can end up spending thousands of dollars over time. VLCDs safely produce a loss of 15% to 25% of body weight in 12 weeks. (That's for those who finish the program: 25% to half of people can't). Sustained weight loss is comparable to that of regular dieters.
Most people seeking rapid weight loss, though, usually do it on their own. Frequently, it's to achieve a short-term goal, such as fitting into a dress, or looking good at the beach.
Starving yourself is certainly not a good idea. But if you're otherwise healthy, a brief period of extreme calorie restriction isn't likely to hurt you. You should tell your doctor what you're doing, and be sure to include protein in your diet (70 to 100 grams per day). Take a multivitamin, and eat potassium-rich foods (tomatoes, oranges, and bananas).
Does Rapid Weight Loss Work?
The only proven method of safe, rapid weight loss is the medically supervised very low-calorie diet (VLCD). Most of what is known about rapid weight loss comes from studies of people on these diets.
No other product, pill, or diet has been proven to work for fast weight loss. The FDA-approved medicines Alli and Meridia can help, but they work slowly and only with diet and exercise.
In any rapid weight loss program, what really burns fat is not a pill or type of food. It's the drastic reduction of calories, combined with exercise.
I want to repeat that last sentence... In any rapid weight loss program, what really burns fat is not a pill or type of food. It's the drastic reduction of calories, combined with exercise... Well, I don't know if I agree with the exercise part. But the rest is true. The R&D Diet Cookie does not cause you to lose weight. It helps you stay on your own low calorie diet so that you can lose the weight quickly. You would lose just as much weight if you only ate 800 calories of Oreos each day. But, that's not realistic on so may levels... one, that much sugar would make you sick and lethargic... two, you couldn't possibly stay on it because the sugar would make you hungry and hunger ruins any diet! The R&D Diet Cookie eliminates hunger and boosts your energy so that you can stay on your diet.
NOT FOR EVERYONE...
I admit this diet aid is not for everyone. I admire the people who can lose weight with a sensible diet and exercise plan. Those who can "just say no" to desert. Those who have willpower and are happy with a 1 to 2 pound per week weight loss. Those who are able to practice a "slow and steady weight loss". Those who can handle and embrace hunger. That's not me. I don't have that kind of willpower. I need a way to lose weight fast or I give up!
Think about it... we have been preached to for years that "slow and steady" is the only permanent way to weight loss. If that were true, we would all be skinny!
Fight hunger without drugs!
There is NO Magic - these diet cookies are engineered to simply control hunger allowing you to stick to your own diet or to a very low calorie diet approved by your own doctor. At about 800 - 900 calories per day, everyone will lose weight!
The R&D Diet Cookies are engineered to control hunger but they are also good for you. They are packed with protein and good carbs, low on sodium and are naturally low in cholesterol. The oil I use is lower in saturated fat than conventional cooking and salad oils and made from all natural soy and canola. Less of this oil is stored in the body as fat. I use a mixture of proteins from a number of sources including whey and soy. Great developments have been made in the manufacture of proteins in the last decade and I remain diligent in using only the best and most effective proteins available. I add NO ingredients that promote or encourage hunger!
If quick weight loss is your goal, simply eat 5 or 6 of the hunger fighting diet cookies throughout the day. They taste good and are filling. You will have energy and you will feel satisfied. You won't be obsessing all day long with "What can I eat? Or, how many calories are in that?" Then eat a sensible dinner of about 300 calories... usually 6 to 8 oz of lean protein and steamed vegetables. Sometimes I add a tossed salad with the 1 calorie per spray dressing and a diet pudding. Feel free to add a pickle and/or tomato. You will be amazed at how much better the food tastes!
If maintenance is your goal I suggest that you use the cookies as a meal replacement for breakfast and sometimes lunch. You can eat a healthy mid-afternoon snack then a sensible dinner with more calories. You will find that you have more control over your eating habits and you will not obsess over food nearly as much as you usually do. I have found that the cookies work better as the first food of the day. Once you eat another meal, it is hard to revert back to the R&D Diet Cookies for the remainder of the day.
